Thanks to Lions for prostate screening

I was a first time attendee to the Ironbridge Lions prostate cancer screening event at the Anstice in Madeley recently, and would like to say what a tremendously well run and organised event it was.

I arrived at about 5.20pm, the queue end was already nearly to the mini island to the Tesco car park entrance. We started to move forward at the 5.30pm start and I was through, test done and out by 6.35pm, I was amazed.

Thanks to all the volunteers it was like a well-oiled machine, great organisation all done with such good humour.

The banter and good humour was also in the waiting queue, too, plus when a car pulled up alongside us, window comes down, 'What’s going on?' a young lady asks from the car, 'The latest Star Wars film' says a voice from behind. 'Really?' says the lady. Car drives off with the lady shouting ‘May the force be with you’, laughs all round.

We were there for a very serious reason though, to increase awareness and to possibly save lives, so a very big thank you to the Ironbridge Lions organisation.

Thank you also to the very busy non-stop team of phlebotomists, ‘may the force be with you’ and to all those who were tested as well.
