State of town centre absolutely disgusting

What is happening to Shrewsbury town centre, I ask?

Work on Pride Hill

The state of Pride Hill is completely off-putting. We know work has to be done but it should have a time limit, and if overrun then penalties should be paid.

Homeless people in doorways!

Nothing to encourage footfall in our lovely town!

A few weeks ago I left my car at a garage in St Michaels Street, and together with a friend, we walked back into town to spend a few hours.

We honestly could not believe the state of the pavements that we walked – dirty, with cigarette ends, vomit, bird faeces and the smell of urine – disgusting. Walking up Castle Gates, homeless people in empty shop doorways of which there are a few.

Shrewsbury has its Quarry park and Dingle, and the council give us a wonderful display of hanging baskets and planters.

We are blessed with a beautiful and historic town, that draws many tourists, what must they be thinking?

If I was a visitor for the first time I would not be leaving with a good impression.

Perhaps this is why we have so many empty shops as people are not returning. I used to shop in Shrewsbury every week, but not now.

Come on Shropshire Council clean up our town and bring our great town to its original splendour.
