The Euro 27 are treating us with disregard and contempt
We Leavers will never convince the Remainers of the error of their ways, perhaps they must be happy to be governed by unelected bureaucrats in Brussels.
It would seem that the Remainers would prefer a dictatorship which is what the EU comes across as. People like Bill McClements seem to think that you can restore democracy, as they put it, by ignoring a vote they do not like and having another vote because the first one did not suit them.
Democracy was established in 1215 by the Magna Carta, which also established Human Rights in this country, the former destroyed by the EU in less than 40 years and the latter obviously had nothing to do with the EU.
Travel abroad for the young, far from being denied as one writer puts it is thanks to the young adults who gave up their freedom and tragically their lives in two world wars for today’s youngsters to have that freedom.
Winston Churchill, still considered our greatest Briton, made many great quotes and this is one for our times, he said “For myself I am an optimist – it does not seem to be much use being anything else.” The Remainers would do well to emulate the great man’s positiveness, instead they prefer to gaze into their clouded crystal balls and come up with more and more bizarre predictions in a vain attempt at scaremongering.
King Richard I, at the time King of both England and France, spent little time in England, that little time was used to raise the money to largely fund his European ideals, he considered England to be the Breadbasket of Europe so no change there then.
How can we renege on a debt that we do not have as stated by Roger France, Star 15/12/18 when the EU has cost us well in excess of £400 billion and for what? So many aspects of our wonderful country are rapidly going downhill paying these billions to the EU.
Finally we will never be a major player in Europe as Rod Shaw Star 7/1/19 puts it when 27 other countries treat us with such disregard and contempt.
Peter Harman, Tibberton
