Scots too canny to break with UK
In reply to Renee Webster’s letter, of January 4, what about Scotland, and the real possibility, she says, of Scotland holding another independence vote which would then enable them to rejoin the EU?
If Scotland want another independence vote it would mean the Scottish taxpayer would have to fund a new parliament, as the British taxpayer would no longer be responsible for funding their MPs’ wages as they will no longer have any say in our government at Westminster.
Secondly I don’t believe that the Scottish electorate, regardless of the fact that I think any of Nicola Sturgeon’s plans will fully be thrown out by the ‘canny Scots’ who have for many years had their bread buttered on both sides, add to this the fact that the EU consider Scotland part of Britain and I very much doubt if the EU would allow them to join.
Add to this fact that, even though Scotland at this moment is governed by the rules of Britain, as it has been for centuries, and I really can’t see them giving up all the benefits of being in Britain to have all their laws dictated to them by an outdated and corrupt European Union.
If Nicola Sturgeon thinks she speaks for all the Scottish people when she calls for an independence vote, and rejoining Europe, let her risk her career and the jobs of all the other SNP MPs and see what the ‘canny Scots’ really want at the end of the day.
