STUDENTS PAYING FOR THE FAT CATS
An education can be very useful in life.
The people at the top of the food chain are vice chancellors of universities. They took an average of £325,000 in 2022-23 with perks and bonuses on top. Oxford's vice chancellor took over a million pounds last year.
Who paid for that? Student’s tuition fees were £9,250 last year set to rise to £9,535 this year. The maximum is £9,250 and strangely they all charge that. Typically the student takes out a loan to pay the tuition fees and a further loan to cover living costs. The loans are at commercial rates. A living cost loan can be up to £13,262 per year. They repay the loans plus interest for up to 45 years!
So fat cats sit at the top of the food chain and skinny students get to pay off their necessary loans over up to 45 years. That's a hell of a millstone to have round your neck to keep the fat cats nice and fat.
