US actor Jeff Goldblum has released a single with Scarlett Johansson which will feature on his forthcoming album Still Blooming.

The 72-year-old has also collaborated with his Wicked co-stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande for the jazz album, made with his band The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra.

Black Widow star Johansson, 40, can be heard on track The Best Is Yet To Come, which has been performed by musicians including Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra across the years.

Goldblum said: “We were in (film) Asteroid City together, that’s when I proposed to her that she do this song with us.

“I was talking about, we’ve got this album and some other people were singing, and she said, ‘Hey, when are you gonna ask me?’.

“I said, ‘You humble me’, she said, ‘Yeah, why not?’ and we followed up, and I’ll be darned if we didn’t make that happen.

“And what a voice. She suggested that song. We’re gonna play, I think, at the Carlyle hotel and that’s one of her favourite haunts. And so maybe she’ll join us there.”

Avengers star Johansson is known for films including Lost In Translation (2003) and Marriage Story (2019), but has also dabbled in singing, releasing her debut album, Anywhere I Lay My Head, in 2008.

She can also be heard singing as porcupine Ash in the Sing movie series.

Pop star Grande, 31, features on the track I Don’t Know Why (I Just Do), while Erivo, 38, sings We’ll Meet Again.

The track list also includes the songs Stella By Starlight (with vocalist Maiya Sykes), The Grease Patrol, Blue Minor, Bouncing With Bud, Ev’ry Time We Say Goodbye, and Bye-Ya.

Goldblum starred alongside Grande and Erivo in the movie musical Wicked which explores the friendship between Elphaba (Erivo) and Glinda (Grande) before they become estranged, as they are in the classic stories by L Frank Baum.

In 2018 the Jurassic Park actor released his debut album with The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, The Capitol Studio Sessions.

This was followed with I Shouldn’t Be Telling You This (2019) and Plays Well With Others (2023).

Still Blooming will be released on April 25 via Decca Records.
