Shropshire golfer Jonathan Gidney has secured his first victory in England colours.
The Church Stretton ace teamed up with Miles Mackman to secure a 4&2 foursomes victory over German duo Benedict Staben and Max Glauert yesterday morning.
The victory came in the first match of a quadrangular tournament in Spain.
But it was to prove a day of mixed fortunes for Gidney who was beaten 3&2 by Glauert in the afternoon singles at Costa Ballena.
England lost the match 6.5-2.5 while the other match saw hosts Spain defeat Finland 6-3.
