The Shifnal welterweight, who had elected to hang up his gloves in the summer, was lured out of retirement by the prospect of meeting Mark Thompson in a British title eliminator next month.

But those plans have now been shelved by Lloyd due to his work commitments as a plumber.

"I have started up my own business and I'm very busy until Christmas," said the 34-year-old Lloyd.

"I wouldn't have been able to give the fight preparations 100 per cent.

"The British Boxing Board of Control still needed to approve the fight so I've decided not to waste anybody's time and I've pulled out.

"If work goes quieter after Christmas, I may look to fight again but we will see."
