Shropshire boxer Mark Lloyd has been handed the "biggest fight of my career".

The 34-year-old from Shifnal will take on Craig Watson in a final eliminator for the British welterweight title at Bolton on Friday, July 16.

The winner will be guaranteed a shot at the British belt, but a tough night awaits Lloyd against the current Commonwealth light-middleweight champion.

"It's definitely the biggest fight of my career," said plumber-by-trade Lloyd.

"I fought Jamie Cox in a British title eliminator but this is the chance to beat a Commonwealth champion, even if it's at a different weight."

Lloyd, who has won 14 of his 17 contests, has now begun an intensive five weeks of training to prepares for the fight.
