Shrewsbury Amateur Boxing Club in Albrighton Hall show

Shrewsbury Amateur Boxing Club light- heavyweight Sam Adjepong was in devastating form at the club's show at the Mercure Albrighton Hall Hotel.

He knocked out Studio ABC's D Langston to grab the headlines from the 12-bout promotion.

Adjepong had lost his first two bouts and was up against a very tall opponent. But he quickly took his coach's advice and, halfway through the first round, he cornered his rival.

He unleashed a devastating body combination and caught his opponent flush on the jaw to send him crashing.

Langston stayed down for precautionary reasons for around 10 minutes, but was eventually given the all clear by the ringside doctor.

Nine of the bouts had a SABC boxer, although two of the club's top stars, Husan Hussain and Aroon Fiaz, could not be matched.

First up for Shrewsbury was 11-year-old Harry Wager who took on J Doran from Kingsheath ABC.

Harry was boxing his first contest and a little nervous and emotional beforehand, but once he stepped into the ring he boxed brilliantly.

He edged round one with some lovely counter punching as Doran came forward, and the second was close as Doran the experience of two previous bouts to take it.

Harry lost a close third round to lose, but head coach Dave Robb feels he has a little star in the making.

Second on was another newcomer, Ben Evans, the little brother of club 'pocket battleship' Lenny.

Ben never gave his opponent S Cookson (Walsall Wood ABC) a minute's rest, taking all three rounds convincingly .

Unbeaten Idris Moh-ammed of SABC faced tough rival H Walker (Warley ABC) and came through after a very scrappy tie,winning on a majority decision.

Another newcomer, Cameron Robb, nephew of the head coach, took on M Doran (Kingsheath ABC) and convincingly won the first round.

But in the second Doran got underneath Robb's jab and caught the SABC boxer to pave the way to a majority decision.

Amir Fiaz tried to take his fight to D Brown (Far Cotton ABC) but as the contest went on the Shrewsbury lad got caught as he tried to up the pace, eventually losing a unanimous decision.

Next in was Habib Mohammed, who fought J Birch (Studio ABC) and used to jab to good effect to win the first round.

But in the second the Studio boxer picked up the tempo and earned a unanimous decision.

Seventh into the ring for SABC was the other nephew of the head coach, Dillon Robb, who fought M Roberts (Great Wyrley ABC).

The first round saw effective counter puncher Robb catching Roberts to take it.

In the second Roberts got the hang of the Shrewsbury boxer and it was a very close, but the third saw Robb take control with ease for a unanimous points victory.
