Shropshire's Mark Lloyd has been confirmed as one of the first fighters in the next edition of Prizefighter at Wolverhampton Civic Hall on January 28.

The 36-year-old from Shifnal and stable-mate Young Mutley are the first two picked for the eight-man, one-night, three-rounds-a-fight, winner-take-all tournament on January 28, live on Sky Sports.

Lloyd could have to slim down to light welterweight but the show's organisers, Matchroom Sport, have not yet decided whether to set the limit at light welter or welter.

It's a chance for Lloyd to rebound from his controversial points loss for the European Union title to Luciano Abis in Italy seven months ago.

The former Midlands champion lost boxed at the Civic on a Sky bill in April 2009, where he was halted in eight rounds of a British title eliminator by Jamie Cox.
