Barry McGuigan to top bill at Shropshire boxing club

Barry McGuigan will top the bill as a Shropshire boxing club celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.

The former WBA world featherweight champion will be the special guest when Telford Amateur Boxing Club stage an evening of boxing and entertainment at the New Bucks Head, home of AFC Telford United, on May 21.

It is the second coup Telford ABC have pulled off over the last 12 months, after Frank Bruno attended a similar event last year.

Now a pundit on Sky Sports, McGuigan, who won 32 of his 35 contests and was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2005, will witness a bill showcasing some of the best local talent of the sport.

Tickets are £50 each, or £450 for a table of 10.
