Last-16 loss for Shropshire golf ace Ashley Chesters

Shropshire's England international golfer Ashley Chesters has seen his hopes of winning the Spanish Amateur Championships ended.

The Hawkstone Park 22-year-old suffered a 2&1 defeat to compatriot Jack Hiluta at Alcanda in Majorca in the last 16 yesterday afternoon.

But Chesters can still be proud of his run in Spain.

The Shropshire & Herefordshire first teamer finished eighth of the 32 qualifiers from a field of 120 after two rounds of strokeplay, before yesterday defeating Spaniard Victor Bertran in the first round of the matchplay stages.
