Telford golfer James Busby fearful of missing Euro Tour

Telford golfer James Busby fears that he could miss the whole of the 2014 European Tour season because of a long-standing mystery hip injury.

Busby, 31, missed most of the 2013 campaign because of the problem and it has failed to improve despite several months of rest.

An MRI scan diagnosed a ripped cartilage injury but doctors believe it should not be causing as much discomfort as it has.

Busby is currently undergoing physiotherapy to help remedy the problem and depending on the outcome he may require surgery.

But in the meantime he will have an exploratory procedure in Coventry to help identify the root cause of his discomfort.

Asked when he expects to return to action, he said: "I have been out for nine months and it is probably going to be at another four, five, six months before anything starts to happen (in terms of improvement) so I can't see it being this year. But I am hoping to be back in 2015. That is my aim."

Busby earned his European Tour card for the first time by emerging from the field of the Challenge Tour circuit in 2012.

And Busby has been given a medical exemption by European Tour bosses meaning he will be able to resume his career at golf's top table when he returns from injury.
