A bogey on the 17th hole proved costly as Chesters had to settle for tied second place at Seaton Carew Golf Club. Rushmore's Ben Stow birdied the final two holes, completing a record equalling final round of 66, to clinch the Brabazon Trophy with a 14-under-par total score of 278.

Chesters matched Evans' impressive last round score but needed to go one better than his total of 279 to force a play-off for the title.

Chesters had started the final day in fine form, with three birdies in a front nine of 32 and he reeled off four-in-a-row from the 13th before his slip up on the 17th.

Shropshire professional Oliver Farr moved himself up the European Challenge Tour order of merit by finishing tied fourth at the Scottish Hydro Challenge in Aviemore. Farr managed five birdies in yesterday's final round of 66, five under par, which saw him finish on a 15 under par 269.
