Shropshire's Oliver Farr faces tussle to land Euro Tour card
Shropshire golf professional Oliver Farr was today embarks on the possible final step towards his dream of reaching the European Tour.
The 25-year-old, from Ludlow, will be rubbing shoulders with giants of the sport such as Rory McIlroy next season if he can secure a top-15 finish in the lower-ranked European Challenge Tour order of merit.
Farr, who plays out of Worcestershire Golf and County Club, is currently 13th entering the last event of the season, the Dubai Festival City Challenge Tour Grand Final.
A good showing at the Al Badia Golf Club over the next four days should be enough to earn him a place at European golf's top table next year.
But there is still plenty of work to be done if he is to realise his lofty goal, as all 45 competitors taking part in the finale are in with a chance of a top 15 finish.
England's Andrew Johnson led the pack going into today's first round but Hugues Joannes, the last man in the field in 45th position, could still secure a European Tour tour card with a runner-up finish or better in Dubai.
With so many potential sub-plots the Challenge Tour, which has included 26 events spanning 20 different countries, is set for a fascinating finale.
