Steve Kittrick calls for consistency from Bucks

AFC Telford boss Steve Kittrick is calling for consistency as his relegation-threatened side return to Conference Premier duties.

The Bucks host FC Halifax on Tuesday, aiming to bounce back from their midweek 4-0 FA Trophy drubbing at Conference North outfit AFC Fylde.

That reverse was all the more surprising after last Saturday's impressive 4-0 triumph at Wrexham, and a string of solid, dogged displays since the manager took the reins in late December.

Unacceptable

Kittrick was both shocked and disappointed at by the "unacceptable" performance at Kellamergh Park, which came on the back of back-to-back league victories.

He said: "At Wrexham I couldn't pick a man of the match. They were all tremendous, but we have got to get consistency. That is what it is about now.

"They have shown what they can do, they have set the standards and that is what they have to aim for."

"We spoke briefly about the Fylde game at training on Thursday and they all want to forget about it and get back to what we did last Saturday – and that is what I wanted to hear."

Kittrick will be looking for a big response from his team when they take FC Halifax at the New Bucks Head on Tuesday.

And he has been pleased with the attitude shown in training on Thursday in response to their FA Trophy exit.

He said: "They trained well. The training session was good, intense and upbeat."

Off the field Kittrick has been working hard to add further to the four signings he has made since his arrival as manager last month.

He was today set to take a second look at young Bolton Wanderers full-back Glenn Matthews, who has been given permission to train with the Bucks this week by the Championship club, with a view to a possible loan move.

Matthews trained with the team on Thursday and with Telford having no game today – due to their FA Trophy exit – he was due to cast another eye over the player as part of a training session at the New Bucks Head.

Kittrick has made it clear he would like to add two more players to his ranks in this January transfer window.

But he does not expect any business to be completed over the weekend.

He said: "There could be a bit of movement next week, and maybe we might add a couple."
