It's the best yet for Bridgnorth athletes

The awards came thick and fast as Bridgnorth Athletics Club held its annual presentation evening to celebrate their most successful season in their history.

Bridgnorth's talented athletes won a total of 12 competitions, with numerous second and third place finishes in cross country, sports hall and track and field events.

The success continued with Adrian Lloyd Davies and Ryan Goodison crowned Midland champions.

The main award winners were Ellie Shotton, Pippa Goulden, Holly Bingham, Ava Forrest, Lillian Wilcox, Leonie Bottomley, Lucy Elcock, Jess Hibbert, Andy Jones, Archie Wickens, Joe Manton, Ryan Goodison, Dan Galloway, Robin Mitchell, Kieran Clarke and Oliver Carvell.

A number of Bridgnorth runners were quickly back in action after the celebrations as they turned out for Shropshire in an Inter Counties Cross Country fixture at Stoke.

The best Shropshire performance of the day came from Bridgnorth's Oliver Carvell who finished third in the Junior Boys' race.

Best placed finishers for the girls was Molly Andrews was the star turn for the girls as she came home 13th in the Intermediate race.

Seven counties took part ranging from as far afield as Cumbria and Surrey with Shropshire claiming an impressive second place overall – their best result in several years.
