Wellington Boxing Academy duo Husan Hussain and Idris Mohammed were both gunning for a place but went out in the semi-finals,

The two were both involved in Class B, for fighters born in 1999, with the last four clashes taking place at the Spa in Bridlington.

Hussain felt aggrieved with his exit at 48kg, coming into the tournament for the first time after a series of byes.

The club's first national champion, in the England Junior competition earlier this year, was penalised by the referee late on.

There wasn't much in his contest against fellow national titlist Ibrahim Nadeem, from Bury, when he was warned for holding. He subsequently lost on points to a split decision.

The same fate befell Mohammed at 70kg, in his second chance at glory having already gone out of the tournament once.

He thought he'd bowed out after a unanimous defeat in the pre-quarters to Thomas Hessin, from Waterfront in Leicester, last month.

But Hessin sustained a hand injury in the contest which didn't clear up even with extra time to recover, due to a bye in their weight class past the quarter-finals.

Mohammed took his place and squared up against Three Nations gold medalist Kai Hume, from Newbiggin in Northumberland, but was beaten again over-the-distance.

Hussain and Mohammed will now step up a level next year, re-entering national competition in the England Youth Championships.
