Peg five yielded a huge 222-10-0 return to the waggler rod of Morgan Davidson (Oakengates Ang Cent).

Reliable peg 14 also produced a double ton, with waggler and pole tactics both being used by Simon Harris (Little Dawley) to build a runner-up net of 203-12-0.

Third came from another regular frame peg, number 30, where Simon Healy (Quarry Pool) caught on the pole at six metres and close to net 182-0-0.

The fish were a bit more wary on Bank Holiday Monday but it still needed nearly a ton for third. Simon Harris moved up to first place with a bomb, waggler and pole based 120-0-0 from peg 30.

Tyson Park (Little Dawley) put 115-6-0 on the scales to claim second at peg 32, while along at 29 Richard Duke (Middle Severn Angling) had 97-4- 0 in third.

Audlem Match Group's latest match, fished at Long Lane, saw a comfortable win for Dave Matson.

His winning bag of 33-4-0 featured carp to 3lbs, which he enticed by alternating meat and maggots to the lilies at favoured peg 17.

Melvyn Mynard took second with 25-10- 0, five carp on method feeder fished to the island at peg 12 with meat as hook bait. John Batha took carp in the margins, on pole-fished meat and corn, from peg nine for a third-placed 14-1-0.

The next match is on June 12 at Birches Pool, Melverley.

Rob Yeomans' 15-8-0 haul of bits and three carp on peg 16 won him the Hodnet AC club match at Ryleys pool on Thursday.

Two good carp and a small one brought Andy Peate 14-9-0 and second place from peg 20 with Dave Jones, 6-3-0, third at peg seven.

On Sunday at the same venue, Tom Gollins won with 20-11-0 of carp caught on sweetcorn at peg 17.

Bob Parrish was second with 9-5-8 at peg five and Bernie Peake third with 5-7-0 from peg 23.
