The club, who are based at RAF Cosford and Oldbury Wells School, head to Birmingham's Hilton Metropole on October 15 for the England Athletics Hall Of Fame Evening.

Bridgnorth, who have around 140 members, boast of UK medallists at both indoor and outdoor events after a highly successful 2016 campaign.

"We received the letter out of the blue and it will be a real crowning moment for the season," said coach Stuart Hamilton.

"It's the first time we've swept the board in sports hall, cross country and track and field events for under-11s to under-17s.

"We're predominantly a junior club so we focus on the youngsters.

"It's all down to the team we have here. All of the coaches, committee members, officials and athletes deserve it. It's a fantastic achievement for a small athletics club in Shropshire.

"We have no idea how we'll get on or how many clubs have been nominated. It's a whole new ball game for us but we'll have a good night regardless."

The Hall of Fame evening follows Bridgnorth's own presentation evening on October 14 at Castle Hall in Bridgnorth, where the mayoress will be on-hand to present awards.
