A 10-minute horror show condemned Bridgnorth to their first defeat as they lost 7-3 to Rugby & East Warwickshire.

The game had been fairly even until a poor spell for the hosts at the start of the second half.

Relegated Rugby dominated possession early on but rarely threatened the Bridgnorth goal.

After 10 minutes it was the home side who took the lead through a Dan Wright back post tap-in after a pinpoint Matt Martin reverse stick cross. But Bridgnorth were unable to keep the lead for more than a minute as Rugby hit back immediately.

It was to be Bridgnorth who regained the advantage, though, as Joe Toulson latched on to a defensive mistake to rifle into the roof of the net. Once again, though, Bridgnorth failed to make the lead last as Rugby hit back to leave the score level at the break.

It was evident that the next goal was going to be crucial and so it proved. The home side conceded immediately after the break and then again from the restart.

Heads dropped and Bridgnorth then capitulated as they conceded three further goals to leave them 7-2 down eight minutes into the second half.

Bridgnorth kept pushing and Charlie Eyke grabbed a consolation right at the death.
