The event in Sheffield, the last in this year's English swimming calendar, saw hundreds of swimmers compete, with some of the best talent in the country on show.

Sixteen-year-old Pugh, who swims for Ellesmere College Titans, impressively won gold in the women's 50m butterfly, touching in 26.82. She also competed in the women's senior 100m backstroke, senior 100m fly, senior 50m back and the senior 200m backstroke.

Swimmers competed in heats, with the top 10 reaching the A final. The next 10 entered an age group final. Pugh, a European junior champion this year, won the gold in the B final – her age group. However, she was fast enough for the A final for all the other races.

GB's Jazz Carlin, who won silver in both 400m and 800m freestyle in Rio, competed at the event.
