Classy Newport turn on the power
Newport were back to their best as they swept aside Wolverhampton 49-3 to maintain their 10-point lead at the top of the Midlands One West table.

The game was only four minutes old when Wolverhampton's defence was broken for the first time. A series of forward drives eventually released Henry Vaka, who scythed through under the posts. Liam Holder added the conversion.
Worse was to come for the visitors when Chris Perry made a superb break and after covering some 40 metres fed the supporting Vaka, who went in for his second – again converted by Holder to make it 14-0.
Wolverhampton slotted an easy penalty to reduce the arrears but then missed two further shots at goal.
The rampant Newport pack were driving the visitors back at every set-piece and a series of penalties at scrum time five metres out eventually led to a penalty try with Holder converting to make it 21-3.
The hosts increased their advantage when Kirk Robinson picked up from the base of a scrum and forced his way over by the posts with Holder adding the extras.
The second period was only a couple of minutes old when Holder put a penalty to within 15 metres of the Wolverhampton line. A well-executed catch and drive was heading for another score before being hauled down illegally, resulting in a second penalty try. Holder's conversion stretched the lead to 35-3.
More forward dominance created enough havoc in the Wolverhampton ranks for the ball to be released quickly left where Sam Hughes scampered in at the corner, Holder adding an excellent conversion.
Perry crowned an excellent day's work by snapping up a loose ball and jinking his way over in the corner for the final try. Holder completed a good display with the boot with another successful kick.
