AFC Telford United boss Gavin Cowan says fans can expect a team 'full of desire' next season

Cowan and assistant Phil Trainer will be targetting the top end of the table during the 2018/19 campaign.

The Bucks avoided relegation last season despite lingering close at the end - but Cowan wants to build on that momentum for the new season.

And he hopes to achieve positive results through the commitment of his players on the football pitch.

The 36-year-old, who was appointed last week, said: "The supporters can expect a team that are going to be full of hard work, desire, and will do a job and a half on the pitch."

The managerial duo will be expecting a tough challenge next year in what will be their first seasons as managers.

But Trainer hopes their combined experience of the league - having played for Telford in the past - will help them get results.

Trainer said: "This is my first management role. I have had a little bit of experience with the previous clubs I have been at.

"But this will be my first sought of real experience.

"But obviously we have played in this league, we know this league well enough so that should hold us in good stead."

Preparations are underway for pre-season with Telford having arranged friendlies behind closed doors with 'high-profile clubs'.

Talks are also ongoing with players as Cowan and Trainer build their squad for the new campaign.

Former Aston Villa player Henry Cowans is the latest signing and will return to the New Bucks Head having featured last season.

The 22-year-old, who made 11 appearances next season, has signed a new one year deal - making him the club's third signing.

He ended a long association with Aston Villa when he signed for Telford in September and helped to keep them afloat in the National League North.

Boss Cowan said: "I'm very pleased to be able to retain Henry as part of the squad for next season. Henry has developed his already undoubted ability since he's been with us understanding there is a job to be done out of possession also.

"He is a player who can be whatever he wants and I'm excited to see him excel with us.”
