The Newport star entered the CIV Italian Supersport 300 championship as a wildcard to get in some much-needed track time before the season opener.

And the 24-year-old really signalled his intent after storming to wins in both races before turning his attention for round one of the World Supersport 300 series in Aragon, Spain.

The RT Motorsports by SKM – Kawasaki rider is aiming to add the world title to the British championship he claimed back in 2018.

Since then Booth-Amos has enjoyed one injury-plagued season in Junior World Championships and then Moto3 class of MotoGP in 2019 before making his debut in the WorldSSP300 series last year.

He only made his debut in the class in July, at Jerez, due to coronavirus, but he started his campaign with a double podium and held the championship lead after round one.

Booth-Amos was also on the podium at Portimao, in Portugal, before taking his first win at Barcelona, which included claiming four-straight poles, eventually finishing sixth in the 2020 standings.

However, he had done plenty to impress team manager Rob Vennegoor and technical manager, Frank Krekeler, who snapped up his services for the 2021 campaign halfway through his debut campaign.

After and intense winter testing programme, Booth-Amos lined up on the grid alongside team-mates, Australia Harry Khouri, who claimed a seventh and sixth, and South Africa Dorren Loureiro, sixth and fourth, in Misano over the weekend and went on to claim a stunning double victory.

Vennegoor said: "Racing is always better as testing and for that reason we started this weekend with our WorldSSP300 team in the CIV Italian Supersport 300 Championship races at Misano, venue for the second WorldSSP300 race of 2021 in June.

"It’s wonderful to start with a double victory and very decent results from our other two riders Dorren and Harry. Dorren didn’t raced last year because of the Covid restrictions but was fast from the first practice and so was Harry during his first visit to Misano.

"The motivation was already very strong but after Misano we can't wait to start the world championship season this weekend at Aragon.’

"A special mention to Frank Krekeler, co-owner and technical manager, as he has ridden across Europa and developing at SKM workshop all winter long to test and develop as much as possible.

"That shows perfectly that we leave nothing to chance."
