Town have been on the lookout for a new boss since previous head coach Paul Hurst was sacked by the club on Sunday after the FA Cup exit at the hands of Salford.
And the Shropshire Star understands that Ainsworth and Maamria are both candidates in the mix for the vacancy.
Ainsworth, who most recently was in charge of Queens Park Rangers, would be quite the coup for Salop.
The 51-year-old spent more than 10 years as manager of Wycombe Wanderers taking them from League Two all the way to the Championship.
