AFC Telford United loanee backed to make a big impact
Kevin Wilkin has tipped recent AFC Telford United debutant Jakub Kruszynski to make a big impact during his time at the SEAH Stadium.
The 19-year-old joined the Bucks on an initial 28-day loan from Mansfield Town last week and was thrown straight into the mix last weekend.
In a 30-minute cameo during Telford’s 1-0 FA Trophy defeat to Hadley, Kruszynski impressed supporters and manager alike, with the latter admitting he ‘jumped at the chance to bring the attacking midfielder on a temporary basis.
“Jakub’s had one or two hamstring injuries recently, and we’ve been speaking to lots of clubs to try and see who could come in and have an effect,” Wilkin explained. “He was one, after I spoke to Mansfield’s academy director, who was thought very highly of, and the boy was keen to go out and play some senior games.”
He added: “We’ve jumped at the chance to get him on board, and the initial signs have been really positive, and hopefully he can build on that in the coming games.”
With a lack of squad depth causing Telford regular problems this season Wilkin admitted that he is still on the lookout for potential additions, both permanent and loans.
He also explained that despite joining for 28 days initially, the club have the chance to extend the loan beyond that date should they want to.
“Absolutely (the loan can be extended), and I think if things are working it’ll be the right thing to do,” the Telford boss said. “It’s good to have the initial loan to allow everyone to work out how things are, but if we’re all happy we can look at extending it.
“Jakub managed the ball really well and for the short period he was on he did really well. He’s someone we hope will have a positive impact for us.”
