She was the bowler with one of the biggest smiles as the Shropshire Ladies association held a joint presentation evening with the Shrewsbury Ladies League at Broseley Social Club.

Caswell was presented with the Shropshire Ladies Merit trophy for the second time in three years - that success at Newport coming just a month after she was crowned Ladies Spring Waterloo champion.

She went on to win all five of her matches as super Shropshire retained the British Ladies Senior County Championship before reaching the semi-finals of the Ladies Champion of Champions at Owley Wood in Northwich.

Caswell also captained the Bylet team that survived in the Shropshire Premier League, winning 15 of her 26 games in a memorable year that also saw her win a couple of mixed doubles titles.

Wrockwardine Wood, having seen their domination of the league ended by Allscott Heath, had the consolation of beating the village team in the final of the County Women’s Cup.
