Salop fell to a 2-1 defeat to the Tangerines in terrible windy conditions in Shropshire.

Mal Benning had given Shrews an early lead when he scored from a free-kick inside his own half.

But two goals in five second-half minutes turned the game on its head for Town as they fell to a 12th defeat of the season and dropped to the bottom of the League One table.

Ainsworth says he was disappointed with the way his side conceded, but he was pleased that his players gave everything.

He said: "Do you know what I look at the positives and say we created many chances first half. We started like a train, and the goal was bizarre obviously.

"But we had chances to provide that final piece of quality right at the end of each move, but we did not manage to hit the net, and it came back to bite us.

"Second half Blackpool were always going to be tough with the wind right in our faces it was a tough night, the conditions played a part, believe me, but we also gifted a couple of goals that I think, well I know, we can stop having looked at them, and I know what I will be working on.

"I think we limited Blackpool to very few shots on our goal, but they did score two and that is very disappointing.

"Ultimately, we did not defend brilliantly in those periods, and there are things as a team we have to be better.

"I asked the players for everything they have got right. I can accept all mistakes, I can accept things going wrong as long as they give everything and they did.

"Alex Gilliead has come off with a big gash, and there are a couple of boys who are dead on their feet because they have given everything again.

"I might need some changes for Saturday because these boys are now digging deep and running really hard.

"Apart from some crazy moments, we were right in this game. It is 2-1 it happens sometimes we will be back on it."
