Shrewsbury v Blackpool: Gareth Ainsworth sends 'work rate' warning

Shrewsbury Town set the standard against Birmingham City, and Gareth Ainsworth has warned that he will not let his players drop below that level.

In the 51-year-old's first game in charge at the Croud Meadow Salop produced the result of 2024 by beating big spenders Blues.

But that is gone. Town still find themselves in a difficult position in League One and they have to go again when they welcome Blackpool to Shropshire. 

And Ainsworth says the victory last time out shows they do not have to fear anyone but he does not want a team who can only get themselves up for the big games. 

"They are professionals," the head coach said. "So they know that one game does not make up for where we are in the league. And we've got to keep repeating that.

"They understand that. What I think they've got now is the belief that they don't have to fear anyone in this league. We've just beaten one of the big spenders and one of the favourites to go up.
