Whitchurch Alport progress to the next round of the FA Vase
Whitchurch Alport progressed to the next round of the FA Vase after beating Lincoln United 3-1 at Yockings Park.
Craig Pritchard, the Whitchurch captain, gave them the lead five minutes before the break. And within two minutes of the second half, they had doubled that lead when Harry Bower got on the scoresheet.
Jack McMenemy pulled one back for the visitors to set up a nervy final seven minutes, but deep into stoppage time at the end of the match Shrewsbury Town loanee Luca Whitney scored to make it three.
The result means they will make the trip to Clay Cross Town on Saturday, January 11, for the next stage of the competition.
In the Midland Football Premier Division, Shifnal did not have a game as they were due to play Alport - that fixture will now be re-arranged. Shifnal trail the league leaders Lichfield City by two points but with a game in hand.
In Division One, AFC Bridgnorth have picked up just 16 points from their 23 matches, but they got a valuable win at at the league's whipping boys Paget Rangers.
They have lost all but one of their 24 matches so far this campaign. In the North West Counties League Division One South, Allscott Heath's difficult season continued as they were thrashed 4-0 at Sandbach United.
Joseph Bevan scored a hat-trick for the home side - netting twice before the break and with 18 minutes remaining. Jake Pollard also got on the scoresheet.
Shawbury United are bottom, and their 5-2 home defeat against Alsager Town will do nothing to change that. Goals from Samuel Corbishley, Dylan Woods, Ryan Rogers, and Kaylan Wilkinson as well as an own goal, saw the visitors sail into a five-goal lead by the 65th minute.
Shawbury put some respectability on the scoreline when Andrew Haynes scored in the 70th minute, and then Eric Mensah got a second consolation deep into stoppage time.
Market Drayton Town are doing much better in the league table though, they are ninth.
They were in other action on Friday evening as they played Barnton in the third round of the Macron Cup.
Drayton led when David Ablewhite scored on the half-hour mark, only for Finley Rorke to equalise eight minutes later. Giovanni Lazaro and Rio Hobson added a second and a third for the hosts before Ablewhite scored for Drayton late on. That turned out just to be a consolation as they were knocked out of the competition.
In Hellenic League Division One, Ludlow Town were beaten 2-0 at Bewdley. And in the West Midlands League Premier Division, Telford Town's game against Saltley Stallions was postponed.
