The 21-year-old, who Wolves signed for £12.7million in the summer, was recalled to the side by new boss Vitor Pereira on Sunday and scored his first Premier League goal in the second of a 3-0 win.

Gomes was utilised as a left-wing-back, putting in an energetic display, and the Portuguese under-21 international was beaming after the game.

"I'm very happy, it's a day to remember," Gomes told the Express & Star.

"I'm very happy to score a goal and to help the team achieve a 3-0 victory, which is very important for us.

"A clean sheet is very important too, so I'm very happy.

"I feel very happy to score my first goal and help the team, it was a moment I will remember forever.

"It was a lovely ball and assist from Doc.

"In the moment, I thought the defender would get the ball and that's why I didn't expect it and tried to control with my chest, but it worked out better because I scored."
