The summer signing started and scored in Pereira's first match in charge - the 3-0 win over Leicester - but then lost his place as Rayan Ait-Nouri returned from suspension.

R.Gomes had to settle for a place on the bench until Monday's defeat to Nottingham Forest, when he returned to the side amid an injury nightmare among the squad and was Wolves' most dangerous player on the night.

And Pereira was full of praise for the 21-year-old, as he calls on his players to take confidence in their performance on Monday, despite defeat, but also focus on what they can improve.

"Rodrigo is a fighter," Pereira said.

"Rodrigo and Rayan, this week they got a flu.

"They didn't work in training and they come to help the team and try their best.

"This is the spirit that I want to see.
