"I know exactly what is expected" - Shrewsbury Town new-boy on working with Gareth Ainsworth
Shrewsbury Town new-boy Dom Gape can't wait to reignite his promotion-winning partnership with boss Gareth Ainsworth.
The midfielder went up from League Two and League One under Ainsworth during their time together at Wycombe Wanderers, reaching the Championship in 2020.
And Gape is looking forward to helping set the 'standards and non-negotiables' for his new Shrewsbury team-mates.
"I couldn't be happier," Gape told Shrewsbury Town's official website. "I've worked with the staff here for a number of seasons in the past, they mentioned there might be an opportunity and I jumped at that with two hands.
"I really enjoyed playing under the gaffer at Wycombe. I was a mainstay throughout and we had two promotions.
"I've got the utmost respect for the three of them (Gareth, Richard and Dave). I know exactly what is expected and what the standards and non-negotiables are."
Now aged 30, Gape has spent short spells at Sutton United, Northampton Town and Eastleigh since his Wycombe glory days.
And he is determined to make a success of his return to League One, with Shrewsbury Town locked in a relegation battle.
"I'll give everything I can," he said. "I'll be full-blooded, I will look to recover the ball and start moves.
"And I will do everything I can to help the team. Since the gaffer has come in we've started to make a bit of headway and I want to help us continue on that upward trajectory."
