Last summer, Idowu joined St Mirren on a season-long loan deal, while Mata returned to his native New Zealand after signing for A-League side Auckland for the campaign - also on loan.

Town midfielder Harrison Biggins became the third senior player to make a temporary switch, he went up to Cumbria to sign for Carlisle, but last week, the 28-year-old returned from that loan deal.

And it is understood Idowu and Mata will not have their spells away from the Croud Meadow cut short, with Shrewsbury happy with the duo's development.

Idowu, a left-footed winger, has been plying his trade in the Scottish Premiership, where he has been a regular for St Mirren making 23 appearances - he has scored twice.
