The 23-year-old became Town's first signing of the January transfer window last week when he signed a two-and-a-half-year deal which will keep him in Shropshire until the summer of 2027.

The forward had scored 14 goals from his 23 National League North matches so far this season, which led to him being sought after by Salop.

Stewart will now compete with John Marquis, who scored a brace in Town's 2-1 win over Wrexham last Thursday, and George Lloyd, who was given man of the match in the same game, for a place in Shrewsbury's forward line.

It has been quite the rise for the former Leamington man, who only joined the Brakes in the summer of 2023 after a successful spell with non-league step-five team Coventry Sphinx.

And his new boss, Gareth Ainsworth, spoke about what attributes the youngster has that have impressed him, while also revealing he even had to hand his notice in at work after signing.
