Salop were one minute away from getting a hard-earned point at the weekend. They lost 1-0 thanks to Thierry Small's goal in the final minute of stoppage time in the game at The Valley.

Ainsworth's side once more showed the resilience the Town supporters have become accustomed to seeing over the last six weeks in south London.

Since the new boss arrived in Shropshire, Shrewsbury have taken 12 points from the 11 games he has been in charge of - including the famous wins over high-flying Wrexham and Birmingham City.

They were organised, disciplined and they frustrated Nathan Jones' Charlton side for large parts of the game in the capital - and they were just a minute away from their third clean sheet of the campaign.

Unfortunately, they still lost. And the result does mean they return to the bottom of the third tier of English football, while the gap to 20th-placed Northampton widens to seven points.

For Ainsworth, the continued progress he has seen from his side in recent weeks is what he judges his team on.
