AFC Telford star Ellis Brown tipped for bigger things
AFC Telford United forward Ellis Brown has been tipped to become the next player to make the step up to full-time football by boss Kevin Wilkin.
Brown, 22, has taken the place of Ricardo Dinanga in the Bucks starting XI, after the left winger joined League One side Shrewsbury Town last week.
And after two man-of-the match performances in the last week, Wilkin has backed the young forward to continue his positive development.
“Ellis has done really well. It’s probably suited him a lot more being able to play on that side, and there’s been that little bit of expectation on him,” he said. “Clearly when you’re having to take the place of a player who has stepped into league football you’re going to get that bit of pressure, but he’s stepped up really well.”
Wilkin added: “He’s been a constant threat for us. We know he’s capable of that and he showed it last season, but he’s got to knuckle down and understand how to make best use of himself and really affect the game in a big way.
“I certainly think his decision making has been better, and when he travels with the ball high up the field he’s really asking questions of the opposition.
“He’s much the same as Ricardo in the sense that he’s very quick, and that in itself will threaten teams.
“Now he’s just got to add that goal scoring technique to his game so that he’s chipping away with goals to compliment the other parts of his game, because he’s a talented boy who wants to improve his game and get back into full-time football.
“If he keeps finding those really big moments on a consistent basis he’ll attract interest from clubs at a higher level, there’s no doubt about it.”
