The Brazilian was linked with a move away in January but instead penned a new deal until 2029, which includes a release clause from the summer that is understood to be £62.5million.

There is no specific relegation release clause in the deal, but Cunha is likely to leave regardless with clubs queuing up to sign him.

But for Wolves, they now keep their talisman for the rest of the season as they battle relegation and Pereira is pleased to have the contract negotiations finalised.

"For me, it's important to have Cunha committed and I feel this commitment," the head coach said.
