Town have conceded fewer than one goal per game this season and currently sit third in the Midland League Premier Division. They have two games in hand over leaders Lichfield City while being only eight points behind.

Wulfrunians were 11th going into the game against Shifnal, hoping to bounce back from back-to-back losses against top-six sides 1874 Northwich and Whitchurch Alport.

Kyle Byrne opened the scoring on 26 minutes, after Sam Fitzgerald’s corner resulted in two shots being cleared off the line. Kane Lewis subsequently crossed back into the box for Byrne to head home.

Jack Rowley put the home side 2-0 up going into half time, heading in a Fitzgerald corner while unmarked at the back post.

Wulfrunians came out with purpose in the second half and pulled one back two minutes later as Nana Owusu-Gyimah slotted a loose ball home after a deflection fired back off the Shifnal crossbar.

The Shropshire side regained their lead on 63 minutes as Kyle Bennett was played inside by Jack Fishman, while Byrne and Samiir Abdullahi sealed the win close to the death.

Byrne got his second with two minutes left to play as Taylor Need played a low ball into the middle to assist on his debut, while Abdullahi tapped in a Nathan Kabeya cross to score on his debut five minutes into added time.

Whitchurch Alport fired three past fellow play-off hopefuls Stone Old Alleynians, as Callum Parker bagged a lightning-fast brace.

Adam Hailes opened the scoring for Alport before the break, while Parker added to the tally with two goals in the 54th and 56th minutes.

Whitchurch are now unbeaten in 10 games - a run stretching back to November, which includes their recent 2-1 FA Vase success against North Shields.

AFC Bridgnorth struggled against Midland League Division One leaders Nuneaton Town, losing 5-0 in their worst defeat of the season.

Allscott Heath suffered a 4-2 loss to relegation rivals Barnton in North West Counties Division One South, with goals from Oliver Sweeney and Carl Rogers.

Shawbury United earned a huge point in their fight for survival as the bottom-of-the-league side drew 1-1 with second-placed Stafford Town, thanks to David Howell’s opener.

Ninth-placed Ludlow Town beat mid-table rivals Shortwood United 3-1 in the Hellenic League Division One, with Ryan Clarke netting a hat-trick.

West Midlands League Premier Division leaders Telford Town enjoyed a 6-0 victory against Stourbridge Standard to go 12 points clear at the top. Ryan Mansell scored a hat-trick alongside goals from Andrew Nicol (two) and William Evans.
