"We knew it was going to be tough" - TNS open up nine-point lead at the top

Adam Wilson’s excellent first-half goal proved enough to secure an eighth league win in a row for Saints as the Park Hall side made the most of their game in hand on Tuesday night.

“We knew it was going to be tough - it’s always tough coming here,” said head coach Harrison, reflecting on his side’s win at fifth-placed Caernarfon. "They’ve got really good fans behind them and they’ve got good players, a good manager.

“They’re one of the form teams in the league at this moment in time. I believe they’re second to us in the form table and we knew it was going to be tough.

“But we sort of ground them down and it was a proper, really professional, 1-0 win away from home.

“Another clean sheet, which was really important, which we’re really pleased about. We’ve not kept enough clean sheets this season as we’d like to.”

Wilson, on loan from League Two Bradford City, scored the winner in the 21st minute.

Collecting the ball outside the penalty area, he skilfully broke into the box before arrowing a fine left-footed shot to the bottom corner of the net.

Wilson also twice forced good saves from Caernarfon goalkeeper Ben Hughes in the second half.

Saints will take a break from their league campaign this weekend when they host Airbus in the quarter-finals of the JD Welsh Cup at Park Hall.
