Salop competed well in the match for large parts and arguably were good value for at least a point, but the Koroma's finish at the back post after Antony Evans' cross saw Town fall to back-to-back third-tier defeats.
The result meant they failed to make ground on 20th-placed Peterborough United which heaps further pressure on Saturday's clash with Stevenage at the Croud Meadow.
Report
Salop head coach Gareth Ainsworth made two changes to the XI that lost 3-2 to Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.
George Lloyd and Aaron Pierre both overcame injury to re-take their place in Ainsworth's 3-5-2 formation.
Vadaine Oliver, who scored his first Shrewsbury goal on his first start, had to make do with a place on the bench, while the in-form Taylor Perry missed out with the injury he picked up at the weekend.
Michael Duff made three changes to his Terriers side, with Koroma, Jonathan Hogg and Josh Ruffels starting the match in place of Dion Charles, Herbie Kane and Brodie Spencer.
It was a competitive opening half hour in Shropshire. Huddersfield played with urgency but Town would be pleased with their response after Saturday's setback.
The game's first clear opening went Shrewsbury's way. Luca Hoole played in Alex Gilliead on the right, and as he fizzed it across the box, John Marquis poked the ball towards goal only for it to go narrowly wide.
After conceding three times on Saturday, Town would have wanted to get through the first half unscathed, and they had Aaron Pierre to thank for that.

Jamal Blackman came out of his box to clear, but his header only went as far as Koroma. With the keeper well out of his ground, the Huddersfield number 10 took aim, but Pierre was there to head it off the line and behind for a corner.
Town were a persistent threat down the right in the first half, and Dom Gape's wonderful cross was begging for a touch, but a Huddersfield man got their first.
It was an entertaining first period despite the lack of clear chances, and Salop could be content with their first 45 minutes.
Shrewsbury had a procession of set pieces at the start of the second half, and eventually, they turned one of those into an opportunity, when Morgan Feeney forced Lee Nicholls into a save from a header.

The keeper did not gather it cleanly, but he threw himself at the ball in the six-yard box, and the Terriers cleared the danger.
As the second period wore on, Town hit the crossbar through Lloyd. He had been played in by Marquis after Huddersfield had given the ball away, and his deflected effort hit the woodwork.
Salop did such a good job of keeping their visitors quiet in the game, but Koroma should have done better when he had acres of space inside the Town penalty area with just over 15 minutes to go. Thankfully for Ainsworth, his effort went inches wide.

Nine minutes from time Shrewsbury were punished when they switched off at the back post. Evans got in down Salop's left and his cross eventually made its way to Koroma who was not going to miss a third time.
Blackman was forced into a vital save in stoppage time but it did not matter as Shrewsbury could not find a way back into the game.
