After what they put into the match against Michael Duff's side, they did not deserve to come away empty-handed.

But their lack of sharpness in both boxes was ultimately, what cost Salop in the end, as Josh Koroma's strike nine minutes from time ensured the points went back to west Yorkshire after a 1-0 victory.

Gareth Ainsworth's side came into the game on the back of a 3-2 defeat against Bolton at the weekend, and they needed a result and a performance to bounce back from that.

The head coach got the response he wanted from his team, but they left with nothing to show for their efforts.

Salop matched promotion-chasing Huddersfield, who are now fifth in the League One table. The Terriers, who were a Premier League side until 2019, have financial resources that will dwarf Shrewsbury's, but on the night, Ainsworth's men fell to a second consecutive loss.

Town respond after Bolton setback

After Wanderers' second-half comeback on Saturday, Shrewsbury did well to dust themselves down - and they were excellent in the first half.
