Results released last week showed the club recorded a £1.6million deficit for the 2023-24 financial year.
Those losses were cut from £3.1million for the previous year - which was described by chairman Roland Wycherley, as 'the most challenging and difficult' time of his near three-decade tenure.
And now, in an open letter to supporters, CEO Dooley said the cut in losses represent 'a huge step forward in our journey to becoming a sustainable football club'.
However, he warned that 'they are only a step in the right direction'.
In his letter, Dooley writes: "For me, the key headline is that we have managed to halve our entire operating losses in just one financial year.
"And I am immensely proud to see the steps put in place last year by the chairman coming to fruition.
"These accounts are a huge step forward in our journey to becoming a sustainable football club once again. But I must stress, they are only a step in the right direction, this is very much a journey we are still on."
Dooley also confirmed the club remains in an exclusivity period with potential buyers while remaining 'hopeful' it will be done by the end of the season.
He added: "This always comes with the caveat that this is not completely within the control of Shrewsbury Town Football Club.
"As the old saying goes: "It's not done until it's done." But I can assure you we are doing our utmost.
"This way we always know where we stand. It also ensures we continue to make good financial decisions so we are a football club that exists not only for today, but for generations to come."
