AFC Telford indebted to their utility man

Jordan Piggott again proved his worth as AFC Telford United's Mr Versatile in Saturday's 3-1 victory over Leiston.

With Sam Whittall absent with a hamstring injury, Piggott dropped into central defence to fill in for the Bucks captain alongside Orrin Pendley.

The 26-year-old midfielder has now played in three of the four positions in Wilkin’s back four this season to cover for injured colleagues, and his cheerful willingness to perform wherever asked is a quality Wilkin loves.

“Jordan dropping into defence there today in the absence of Sam, who again is a big player for us… he was absolutely outstanding," said Wilkin. "You couldn't say enough good things about him.

"He plays all over the place and gets on with the job. Like I say, I love players and boys in the team who are able to do that and willing to do that to make sure that we are successful.”

Luke Rowe took the captain's armband on his second Telford debut after signing from Bromsgrove Sporting, where he had also been skipper.
