Alice Kinsella withdraws from Montreal final

Shropshire gymnast has had to withdraw from the all-around final at the World Gymnastics Championships in Montreal.

Kinsella, 16, daughter of former Republic of Ireland footballer Mark, made it through qualifying with her Great Britain team-mate Amy Tinkler, but is now going to miss the final with an ankle injury.

A tweet from British Gymnastics confirmed that the 16-year-old would be withdrawing.

"Alice Kinsella has withdrawn from the all-around final." the statement read.

"Alice sustained a minor ankle injury in qualifying and afetr careful monitoring it has been decided as a precautionary measure that she is unable to compete.

"Alice has had a superb first World Championship and we are confident of a quick recovery that will allow her to focus on the important competitions to come in 2018."
