Last week’s 11-3 defeat at home to Sir John Bayley left the Roaders rooted to the foot of the Salop Leisure Shropshire Premier League table.

But they are usually formidable at home and Fowles is hoping for an instant response.

“We will have to improve 100 per cent,” he said. “We were a bit unlucky with the weather as it poured down an hour and half before the game.

“But there’s no excuse for for losing 11-3 at home, especially when we won the previous home game 13-1. They played well but one or two of our players were poor and we need to address that.

“The weather forecast is better this week and Bylet are five points ahead of us and we need to pull that back.”

Skipper Rob Jones believes Wrockwardine Wood are back on track as they prepare to host Wem USC.

Back-to-back 13-1 away thrashings at St Georges and Chester Road have been followed with a home win over Sir John Bayley and a draw at Bylet.

“Our last two games have seen us look like a decent side following two disappointing away performances, so I’m delighted to get back on track,” said Jones.

“But having only had three home games, the league is a little misleading for us currently.”

Table-topping Castlefields will receive a stern test of their title credentials when they go to defending champions Sir John Bayley, who sit third but have played five of their eight games away.

Second-placed Meole Brace will be bidding to bounce back from a poor result at home to Newport when they head to St Georges.
