The 13-year old, who represents Telford & Wrekin Boxing Academy, has been watching DVDs of his opponent Ibrahim Nadeem, of Bury ABC, in the run-up to their contest at Havercroft Leisure Centre in Ryhill.

His coach, Simon Ford, is confident there are areas of his game they can exploit, allowing Solon to book his place in next month's Class Two 34kg final.

The winner of today's bout will meet the victor of the other semi-final pitting Michael Oates, from Repton, against James Bowers from Pinewood Star. That takes place in Portsmouth with the finalists then locking horns in Liverpool at the start of next month.

Ford said: "We have managed to dig out videos of the lad boxing and we have seen one or two things Kieran can pick up on. Nadeem is taller than Kieran and he likes to box but also comes forward which will hopefully suit Kieran. I think he has got a good chance of winning if he performs to his potential."
