Nicole Moss claims title hat-trick in Europeans
A kickboxing club in Shrewsbury has hit new heights after its members clinched six European titles at a recent competition.
Nicole Moss led the medal haul for Astons Kickboxing Academy in Castle Forgate at the WUMA European Championships, where she was a winner in two different categories.
Moss, won both the ladies +70kg and -70kg divisions at the event, which was held in Worcester, and then confirmed her dominance by winning the Grand Champion division.
The latter was an open weight contest pitting several European champions against each other to find an overall winner.
Moss also came second in the advanced girls 155cm+ division.
Ben Hickman, 14, also won European gold in the Boys Under 155cm division, while his team-mate Jake Lenton claimed silver. Will Anderson took bronze to make it a clean sweep for the club on the podium.
Joanne Savage took European gold in the girls +155 cm.
Her father, Peter Savage, came second in the men's veterans over 35-years category.
And head instructor Chris Aston won the European title at -90kg to complete a superb haul.
Youngsters Jess Young and Helena Blain also impressed, with the former finishing third in the girls -135cm division after winning her novices group.
The latter came second in a separate novices division of the 135cms category, and did not advance to contest the European title.
Aston said: "The club opened in 2010 and this is the most successful result we have had.
"Nicole did really well and she has won World and European honours before, but Joanna and Ben also fought amazingly and they surprised themselves a bit.
"Helena and Jess also did really well especially as it was only their second time competing. Everyone did really well."
